Get involved

We’ve got lots of ideas for how you can get involved from organising your own library event to simply visiting your local library on the day and finding out more about what they offer. We’ll be adding more information to these pages as we get closer to 09 February.

Library Events Map

Use the library events map to find out what libraries in your area are doing to celebrate National Libraries Day. Simply click on our Google Map to see what’s happening at a library near you.

Alternatively, why not organise your own National Libraries Day event and add it to the map. Whether it’s a read-a-thon, author event, poetry master class, amateur dramatic performance, recital, book-swap, treasure hunt or open day, tell us what you and your library are doing to celebrate National Libraries Day. Don’t forget to say where you are, what time your event is happening and to invite everyone along.

Suggestions for Library Users

Calling all library users (and non-users) across the UK – what will you do to celebrate National Libraries Day 2014? If you regularly USE one library, why not visit another (see our Events Map for participating venues). If you never visit a library then why not go along, JOIN in and see what your local public or university library has to offer. If you LOVE your library celebrate it in whatever way you think best.

Suggestions for Library Staff
